What’s your most worn item during the summer months? If you’re like the rest of us, myself included, you probably answered: denim shorts. It’s the ultimate throw-on staple we all reach for that gets us through most weekends. But, the search for a great-fitting AND flattering denim short is not always an easy one. Just like all denim, it requires patience to carefully find a pair that feels like a second-skin all summer long. I love good denim and, luckily, I’ve had many experiences through trial and error discovering silhouettes that will suit every taste! Below are some of the most flattering denim shorts that I’ve found and how I love to style them.
A Casual Mid-Rise
Sometimes the most effortless outfits look and feel the best. The Short RE/DONE denim shorts are my pick for a classic shape. I would style these with a loose fitting summer top like a light sweater or an easy sleeveless crop and a pair of vans. I might even add a bow to tie back my hair for an even more effortlessly chic look.
Crisp Whites
Light denim is having its moment this summer and crisp whites are great for denim shorts as well. I love a high-waisted white short paired with a high neckline or old vintage tee. It’s a perfect look for a summer weekend!
Frayed Lines
For an edgier look, a frayed, slightly oversized short will give you that lived-in look. Pair these with a sophisticated blazer and an elegant mule to add a little luxe.
Bermuda Shorts
New this season are longer silhouettes. While these might not be on everyone’s wishlist this summer, they’re incredibly comfortable and a statement that I’ve been loving. With the longer short length, it’s the perfect opportunity to style this with a crop top!
